About Ms. Walls
My name is Meaghan Walls and I am a grade 3 teacher at Watson Rd. Elementary. This is my 24th year teaching and my 13th year at Watson Road. I have taught grades 2-6 during my career and have absolutely loved every grade...they have all been my favourite at some point! I love teaching and am constantly striving to become even better and to learn even more.
In the spring I acquired an Inclusive Education Professional certificate through Queen's University and am loved all the learning. There is always so much to learn, as teaching is a constantly evolving profession. And, apart from that, each group of students I teach is different and that requires me to adapt and learn, myself, in order to meet their needs. However, some of my favourite things to do have been around for a long time. These include engaging my students in hands-on learning activities, reading stories, having discussions and doing art! I love having conversations with kids...they always have such brilliant ideas and stories of their own to share.
I am passionate about social justice and I organize and lead the Peace Promisers, social justice group at Watson Road. Whenever possible, strands of social justice topics will be woven into the classroom curriculum to help develop acceptance, equity, and inclusion into my lessons.
When I am not in the classroom or busy on the computer, I have my own family that keeps me going constantly. I have a husband who is also a teacher, a daughter, Zadie, who is in third year of sciences at UBCO this year, a son Kai, who is 15 years old and is in grade 10 and a a furry baby son named Milo who is 3 years old!
I love to communicate by e-mail because I can squeeze it in during short breaks in my busy days. I try to check my e-mail regularly and respond quickly when I can. If you need to discuss something with me, e-mail is the best way to get a hold of me. We can set up an appointment via e-mail to meet in person but some issues can be discussed over e-mail or with a phone call without needing a face to face meeting. Please let me know if any concerns or questions arise for you or you child during the year. I would much rather deal with something quickly before it escalates.
Thank you for taking the time to read my website and I look forward to working with all of you this year.
Sincerely,
Meaghan
